Optical Dispensing

Graduates are qualified to work as a dispensing optician, ophthalmic lab technician, contact lens fitter, eye doctor’s assistant, manufacturer’s rep and more.

Typical Duties Performed by Opticians:

  • Recommend Lenses, Frames and Coatings
  • Take Patient Measurements & Fit Eyeglasses

Typical Duties Performed by Ophthalmic Lab Technicians:

  • Grind, Cut, Edge, Coat, Tint, Insert Lenses Into Frames
  • Inspect Final Product for Quality and Accuracy

Typical Duties Performed by Contact Lens Technicians:

  • Measure Eye Shape and Size
  • Teach Patients Use and Care of Lenses
  • Ensure Proper Lens Fit
