Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)
A diagnostic medical sonographer is an Ultrasound professional specialized in using equipment to create images of structures inside the human body. These images are used by physicians to make a medical diagnosis. Sonograms or ultrasounds can be used to examine many parts of the body, such as the abdomen, breast, female reproductive system, prostate, heart and bloodvessels. Sonography is increasingly being used in the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack and vascular diseases that can lead to strokes.
